Fiscal 2004 General Assembly of the ITS Info-communications Forum

The general assembly of the ITS Info-communications Forum for fiscal 2004 was held on June 8 (Tuesday), 2004, at the Kasumigaseki Plaza Hall. Chairing the conference was Shoichiro Toyoda, honorary chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Toyoda welcomed the rapid dissemination of car navigation systems, vehicle information communication systems (VICS) and electronic toll collection (ETC) systems, and noted that Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are now advancing to the second stage. He additionally voiced his hope that the ITS World Congress scheduled for October 2004 (Nagoya, Japan) and the 2005 World Expo (beginning in March 2005 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan) will be excellent springboards for the further advancement and dissemination of ITS.

After the opening remarks, reports were given on business activities and accounting for fiscal 2003, the business plan and budget for fiscal 2004 were reviewed, and the appointments of executives and Steering Committee members were announced. The assembly also deliberated the preparation of rules for handling intellectual property rights related to products the Forum publicly announces. All of the reports and proposals were duly approved.
